Responsible Tourism

At Amazing Philippines we want to positively impact and engage with locals by creating jobs and facilitate sustainable development.

We want to give back to nature, to the small local island communities and especially to the beautiful sea, which is the foundation of it all. At the same time, we strive to put the environment on the agenda of all our guests and the people we work with. Therefore, all guests who visit Secret KiteCamp must pay an environmental fee and local community donation of ₱500 pr week.

Our initiatives range widely and will cover everything from local development projects, beach clean-ups and our own marine projected area

For us, local development is a broad term for a desire to give back to the locals. For example, it could be as simple as helping repaint the sports yard at the local high school, teaching the kids, or teaching them a new game.

The cultural meeting is incredibly authentic as you find places where there are no other tourists nearby.

In the long run, Amazing Philippines is working to improve waste management and create more jobs for the local

There are only few places on earth where there is no sign of man-made pollution of one kind or another. What we encounter most often is plastic in all shapes and sizes found on beaches and other coastal areas.

We regularly conduct clean-ups in the local area in order to raise and share awareness about plastic pollution and the use of plastic in everyday life. By doing this we change peoples mind regarding waste separation and disposal which is as crucial for a brighter and cleaner future.

We are really happy about everyone who wants to help us to clean the beaches around us. We have collection bins ready and guests or locals who hand in a bin filled with beach waste will be rewarded with a free sundowner. When collecting plastic be on the lookout for smaller pieces and take the time to grab them – they are more easily ingested by small animals than a whole coca cola bottle.

Recycling is still limited in most of the Philippines so collected beach waste is sorted and handed over to waste operators in Coron. We are constantly looking for partners and possible solutions to better manage the waste. One thing is certain, though, every piece of plastic removed from the beaches minimizes pollution and the risk of it being consumed by animals.

At Secret Island we generate electricity with solar cells.
